How do I add an item to my blog? (“posting”)

Starting point: you are looking at your own blog on internet.
(http://ukok(first name)(family name).blogspot.com)

1. Click on the “I power Blogger” button (bottom right) OR “Blogger” button (top left)

YOU SEE: the sign-in screen (top right)

2. Enter :
your username as chosen when you created your blog : we suggested (first name)(family name)
your password ………………
Click on “SIGN IN”

YOU SEE: the “Dashboard” ( a list of your blogs)

3. Click on the green “+“ symbol in the “NEW POST” column next to blog name.

YOU SEE: the “POSTING Create” window

4. Enter a title for your posting in the “Title” box.

5. Enter the text of your posting in the main message box.

(TIP! - write your text in WORD (or another word processor), spellcheck it, then copy and paste it into the message box)

6. Select your text and choose the Font and Size you want.

Click on “Preview” to see what it will look like. Click “Hide Preview” to return to text.

7. Check that the Time and Date settings are correct (boxes at bottom)

8. Ready to publish? Click on the “Publish Post” button.

YOU SEE: “Your blog published successfully”

9. Click on “View blog” to see the result!

How do I make changes to an item posted on my blog? (deleting/editing a post)

Starting point: you are looking at your own blog on internet.

1. Click on the “I power Blogger” button (bottom right) OR “Blogger” button (top left)

YOU SEE: the sign-in screen (top right)

2. Enter :
your username as chosen when you created your blog : we suggested (first name)(family name)
your password ………………
Click on “SIGN IN”

YOU SEE: the “Dashboard” ( a list of your blogs)

3. Click on the name of your blog (“BLOG NAME” column)

YOU SEE: the “POSTING Edit posts” window (containing a list of your posts)

4a. Want to Delete a post?

Click on “Delete” (last column to right of Post Title)

YOU SEE: “Are you sure you want to delete this post?”

Click on the “Delete it“ button

Click on “Republish entire blog” button (this updates your blog on the internet)

4b. Want to Edit a post?

Click on “Edit” button (to left of Post Title)

YOU SEE: the “POSTING Edit” window with original text in the message box.

5. Make the changes you want. (Check that the Time and Date settings are still correct)

6. Ready to publish? Click on the “Publish Post” button.

YOU SEE: “Your blog published successfully”

7. Click on “Republish entire blog” button (this updates your blog on the internet)

8. Click on “View blog” to see the result!

TIP: Not sure if the blog has been successfully updated? Click on “Status” in Posting window.

Getting Started: Creating your own Blog

1. On internet go to: http://www.blogger.com

2. On the Blogger homepage

   first: click on “Take a QuickTour” to find out more about blogs

   then: click on: “Create Your Blog Now”

3. STEP 1: “CREATE ACCOUNT”

   Fill in:

   User name : choose any log-in name you will remember

   (I suggest: first name+family name : no spaces)

   Enter password : choose any password you will remember!

   Retype password : do so!

   Display Name : enter your first name(space)family name

   Email address : enter your email address

   Acceptance of terms : tick box

   Click on “CONTINUE”

4. STEP 2: “NAME YOUR BLOG”

   Blog title: enter “UK OK! – (your full name)”

   Blog address: enter “ukok(first name)(family name)” - no spaces!

   Click on “CONTINUE”

5. STEP 3: “CHOOSE A TEMPLATE”

   Free choice! View first, then select the one you like.

   Click on “CONTINUE”

6. You see: “CREATING BLOG”

   then: “Your blog has been created”

7. Click on “START POSTING”

Suggestion: if you want to view these instructions on paper, select and copy the text above into a word processor document and print it out.
